This opening is for a Senior Network Project Engineer in the Balt/DC Metro Area to perform project-based consulting with various customers to design, implement, and support Cisco-based networks.

When not on a client site, you will work in a virtual office based environment (must be wthin driving distance to Baltimore and DC though) to assist customers with network high-level and detailed design, implementation, operations, troubleshooting and issue resolution. You will develop documentation as it relates to project requirements, and assist with or develop customer facing presentations of technology solutions.

The successful candidate must be able to work in a team environment and have the ability to resolve issues independently. Other relevant soft skills: self-starter, good customer interaction skills, critical thinking. We prefer those with the ability to write network assessment and design reports, and who can prepare PowerPoint presentations and present them to our customers – at the project level our work tends to be more assessment and design, with occasional detailed design and deployment engagements.

In short, we want people that have been there, done that, and can now share their competency personally and in writing, to help others improve, upgrade, or build out their networks.

Having a positive attitude that you display with good customer service skills and strong communication skills is key. Many of our senior engineers share some of their knowledge via twitter & blogging, so positive social media engagement is a plus.

You will:
Design, implement, troubleshoot, and document Cisco networks and related systems
Research and analyze existing software releases, as well as perform/support software upgrades based on your recommendations
Develop detailed implementation and test plans for implementing Cisco security technologies along with best of breed tools and technologies related to enterprise networks
Provide knowledge transfer and informal training to clients

Qualifications

Required background

Must be willing to accept a full-time direct hire role and be able to work for any employer in the United States without sponsorship. Some clients may require US citizenship due to clearance requirements
8 or more years of Network Security Experience with firewall exposures to (as many as possible): Cisco, Palo Alto, Check Point, Fortinet, etc.
Must be able to work with end users, communicate clearly, and meet deadlines
Must be able to work with practice lead to coordinate scheduling to meet customer needs, sometimes juggling two or more customers at one time
Lives in the Baltimore/DC metro area and able to travel within the region to support consulting customers

Preferred background:
Certifications in multiple technology areas with an active Cisco CCNP Security or CCIE Security strongly preferred
FTD (Firepower Threat Defense) and FMC (Firepower Management Center) experience
Experience with 801.1x, PKI and Certificate Authority
Strong secondary experience in one or more of the following areas:
Cisco Routing/Switching
Cisco Datacenter (Nexus, UCS)
Cisco ISE
Cisco WLAN
