Position Summary

The Remote Operations Manager will lead the Remote Center Operators in ISO Real Time Operations, manage the dispatch of all contract remote generation assets, and manage the remote operation of the turbine generation fleet.

Essential Job Functions

Provide resources and leadership to execute safe, reliable and efficient remote operation of peaking power plant fleet

Provide world-class monitoring and diagnostic capability for gas turbine operated fleet

Maintain accurate and complete records of operational events

Timely and accurate completion of regulatory and customer required reports

Coordinate with asset managers, commercial teams, and local O&M staff to optimize the commercial availability of power generation assets

Establish technically sound, process-focused operational execution

Manages contract compliance requirements such as reports, budgets, performance.

Manages compliance with federal, state and local regulations, laws and practices.

Manages scheduling and delivery of fuel and generation to meet operational goals.

Maintain and update Remote Operations Center (ROC) policies and procedures.

Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.

Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.

Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet maintenance schedules.

Monitors industry trends in remote monitoring and diagnostics and develops plans for future improvement.

Maintains time and production records and develops periodic reports for customers.

Reads and understands technical manuals and system piping and instrumentation diagrams.

Reads, understands, and ensures compliance with all plant safety and regulatory procedures.

Manages the department's compliance to NERC Reliability Standards, including ISO and internal audits for compliance to NERC Standards.

Develops and implements the training plan of ROC staff as needed to achieve safe, reliable and efficient operations.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree (B. S.) in engineering or business-related discipline and 8 to 10 years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination.
Ideal candidate will have 5 years or more of LM 6000 experience.
Ideal candidate will have 5 years or more of experience in a monitoring and diagnostics or remote operations center.

Working knowledge of computer-based control systems and historians and advance diagnostic software systems.
Working knowledge of continuous improvement and quantitative analysis.
Advanced problem-solving skills and experience with a hypothesis-based approach to Root Cause Analysis
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Must have legal authority to permanently work in the U.S.

Additional Functions:
Support local O&M staff with execution of safety preparations for daily work.

Lead the ROC plant staff to use the CMMS system for work management and procurement.

Proficient in the use of various MS Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Knowledge of principles of business letter writing and report preparation.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationship with the management, the public and co-workers to communicate effectively
Accurately and respectfully respond to requests from management, the owner, the general public.
Perform research, compile and analyze data, and write clear, concise and accurate reports on complex subjects.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, communicate, reach and manipulate objects.
Duties involve moving materials weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and may frequently require moving materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
Manual dexterity and coordination are required while operating equipment.
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
