The **Associate Site Reliability Engineer** will serve a supporting role of a dedicated team focused on ensuring that our most critical services are ready and battle tested. This entry-level position is well-suited for the individual who excels at taking on abstract problems, understanding the human or business impact of these problems, and creating automated solutions to improve outcomes.

The **Associate Site Reliability Engineer** will span development and operations disciplines and will provide a rich learning opportunity for creative, mission-oriented, problem solving engineers. The role involves aspects of software engineering, system operations, chaos engineering, security hardening, and performance engineering. All aspects are considered within an overarching goal of making our systems stable, predictable, scaleable, and secure.

+ Create automation that remediates areas of concern within the system. This is often a software development activity involving event-driven, cloud-based services. This may address aspects of system security, cost, operations, or reliability.

+ Monitor and report on service level objectives for a given applications services. Work with business and product owners to establish key performance indicators.

+ Participate in technical training events, game day scenarios, and professional conferences.

+ Create and maintain monitoring technologies and processes that improve the visibility to our applications' performance and business metrics and keep operational workload in-check.

+ Support on-call rotations for operational duties that have not been addressed with automation.

+ Support healthy software development practices, including complying with the chosen software development methodology (Agile, or alternatives), building standards for code reviews, work packaging, etc.

+ Automated testing of application and infrastructure resiliency over a variety of error conditions.

+ Partnering with security engineers and developing plans and automation to aggressively and safely respond to new risks and vulnerabilities.

+ Develop, communicate, collaborate, and monitor standard processes to promote the long-term health,sustainability and health of operational development tasks.


+ Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, MIS, or other related discipline required.

+ Intermediate proficiency with one or more of the following programming languages: Python, Java, Go, Ruby

+ Prior experience using services in AWS is a plus.

+ Familiarity with container technologies, primarily Docker, is a plus.

+ An understanding of the SDLC and the Agile software development methodology required.

+ Versatility with troubleshooting diverse sets of hosting technologies strongly desired. These include web server platforms, application platforms, operating systems, network components, virtualization technologies, storage, and database platforms.

+ Understanding of general networking concepts and protocols desired is a plus.
