Senior Business Systems Analyst
Performs computer systems analysis and configuration work. Plans, conducts, and directs the analysis of business problems to be solved with automated systems/applications. Partners with users, customers and/or other analysts to identify, evaluate, and develop applications and procedures that are cost effective and meet user requirements. May plan and execute unit, integration, functional and acceptance testing. Creates system specifications to meet business requirements. Designs and configures details of data elements for implementing information requirements for an application. Participates (and may lead) in cross-functional linked teams to address business or systems issues.
Understands business requirements for system support and able to translate them into appropriate systems/application specifications. Formulates/defines system scope and objectives with business partners. Works with other analysts to interview clients and capture basic to moderately complex business requirements. Collaborates with business partners to research existing business and system processes. Participates in requirements definition and assists in the preparation of the proposed statement of work. Works with other analysts to collaborate with architects to propose system/application solutions.
Prepares detailed system specification artifacts for application configuration setup and implementation of new initiatives. Responsible for designing and developing system setup specifications, configuration implementation, testing, and data dictionary documentation for application data elements (with minimum guidance). Facilitates or actively participates in design sessions, functional demos, and change communication. Provides operational system support.
Maintains close coordination with other application development personnel, including application setup validation with Data Analysts, QA Analysts, Report Analysts, and Programmer Analysts throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsible for managing and adhering to quality standards for systems and processes. Works with business partners to formulate effective solutions based on business requirements. Develops risk management plans which include risk identification, avoidance, and mitigation. Participates in system audits and process reviews to ensure excellence.
4+ years' experience in business analysis, requirements definition, building systems solutions and deployment of business requirements to information systems.
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must have 4 years of experience maintaining sufficient business and technical requirements.
4 years of experience with Analytical/problem solving experience to deal with complex business problems.
4 years of experience/working knowledge of full system development life cycle methods for developing business software solutions (optional), and relational database concepts.
4 years of experience/working knowledge of capturing business requirements and transcribing requirements into system specifications.
1 year experience/working knowledge in configuring Pharmacy Adjudication systems and implementing complex client programs.
Working knowledge of designing and building system solutions and business applications.
Understanding of software application configuration and setup.
Extensive documentation to support program implementations.
Validation of software patches and upgrades to application systems.
Continued engagement and customer support to Program Managers requesting new implementations or change requests.
Interaction with external vendor supporting the claims system.
Collaborate with extended Application Development group to adhere to the Software Development Life Cycle.
Review, analyze and recommend strategies for efficient implementation of customer programs.
Additional Knowledge & Skills
Strong interpersonal skills and organizational skills.
Exercise good judgment within defined standards and guidelines in ambiguous situations.
Demonstrated ability to work in a medium and large team environment, multi-task to meet critical deliverable dates and strive for results.
Working knowledge of MS Windows Office Product Suite (MS-Project, MS-Visio, MS-Excel, MS-PowerPoint, and MS-Word).
Familiarity with reading Entity Relationships Diagrams.
Understanding of data analysis and modeling concepts.
Operational responsibilities: support ProPBM Claim setup and provide seamless service to Client Services internal customers; troubleshoot claims processing problems; manage detail documentation for implementation of new programs and changes; interact with external vendors for claims application support.
4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
