Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) is the master planning, creative development, engineering, production, project management, and research and development arm of The Walt Disney Company. Its accomplished corps of Imagineers manage the creation - from concept initiation through installation - of all Disney Resorts, theme parks and attractions, real estate developments, regional entertainment venues, and new media projects.
You will be responsible for the structural engineering and technical integration of rockwork during the course of a specific project, land, or park including coordination of Design+Planning efforts with Creative, Show, Ride and construction trade partners.
This is a 24-month Project Hire position with no guarantee of permanent placement.

Support the design and engineering of complex rockwork structures, including oversight of consultant designs and drawings.

Facilitation of technical coordination of rockwork design and construction including facilitating weekly meetings, maintaining an IRL (issues resolution log) or similar document

Assists in technical coordination of rockwork design documents, models, specifications, and basis of design across AR, ST, MEP, Civil, Landscape, Show, Ride, and Creative disciplines, and with Rockwork Contractor, in consideration of programmatic requirements (Operational Stakeholders).

Assist in development and tracking of rockwork schedules

Assist with quality assurance and control, both of design documentation as well as field construction

Assists in directing project team members on coordination and integration activities related to the technical scope of work; this also includes any 3rd party architecture and engineering consultants.

Participation in regularly scheduled project meetings with project team, consultants and contractors

Assist in providing the project team with rockwork design and construction details and information, rockwork lessons learned and rockwork standards information to inform rockwork specifications.

General knowledge of the structural engineering curriculum, with concentration in the areas of steel and concrete structures

Proficient in the use of 3D CAD, BIM, and analytical software for structural engineering and rockwork design.

A minimum 2 years of work experience in structural engineering, including the production and use of contract documents for commercial/residential/institutional projects

Strong communication skills and the desire to work in a collaborative team environment

Working knowledge of design programs such as SAP2000, ETABS, RISA

Working knowledge of 3D modeling software: Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, Navisworks, BIM360

Engineer-in-Training certificate is desirable

Graduate of an accredited school of engineering with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

The hiring range for this position in California is $69,946 to $93,830 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
