Director of Planning Research & Development

WORKING ON THE CHICAGO DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH COVID-19 RESPONSE TEAM
The Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) envisions a city of thriving communities where all residents are able to live healthy lives. The disproportionate impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Chicago neighborhoods has highlighted the need for the CDPH to address it using a health-equity based approach. As a part of the CDPH COVID-19 Response Bureau, you will engage health agencies, communities, and partners in policies and health services that prioritize residents and communities with the greatest need.

ROLE SUMMARY
As an integral member of the CDPH COVID-19 Response Bureau, the Director Of Planning, Research, and Development oversees and directs staff engaged in researching and planning the Bureau's programmatic and fiscal operations. The position leads efforts and participates in the process to secure continued funding for the Response Bureau.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Planning & Analysis. Establishes goals, objectives and parameters for testing and laboratory-based surveillance planning and research. Directs community-based testing strategies to assist in the identification, control, and prevention of diseases. Directs the collection of data to prepare Bureau operations and fiscal reports. Creates plans, procedures, and protocols based on the analysis of data collected. Reviews and evaluates proposed federal and state legislation impacting Bureau operations and its funding. Directs the identification of potential new funding sources and the application process to secure funding. Under direction, trains and coordinates the training of members of the testing and laboratory-based surveillance team, implements work standards, sets objectives and evaluates staff performance.

Subject Matter Expert. Establishes operating policies and procedures for the for testing and laboratory-based surveillance section. Provides testimony to legislative and other governmental task forces and committees involved in identifying and developing solutions to COVID-19 social, public health, economic or environmental concerns.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Planning, the Social Sciences, Public Health, Public Administration
Four years of supervisory experience in the planning, development, and implementation of social service or public health program

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES, AND ABILITIES

In-depth expertise in the development of comprehensive planning programs
Comprehensive understanding of public health administration
Up-to-date knowledge of applicable local laws, statutes, regulations, and guidelines
Adept at using computers and new software

Days: Monday - Friday
Hours: 9:00am to 5:00pm

Selection Requirement: This position requires candidates to complete an interview which will include a written exercise. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral interview and written exercise will be selected for hire.

This position is funded by a federal grant. These funds may be extended, but CDPH cannot guarantee this position will be funded past December 2022

Failure to answer the question and attach the required documentation will result in you not being considered for the Veterans Preference.
