As an Enterprise Application Architect working on the Research & Development IT team, you will plan, design and deliver architecture for solutions supporting R&D functions including Medical, Clinical, Safety and Regulatory. In this role you will conduct vendor and technology evaluations and research on emerging technologies, understand the business domain including strategic business needs and roadmaps to support the digital transformation at Baxter. Collaborates with business analysts, Enterprise Architects, IT Functional Leads and vendors to solve unique and complex IT Architecture problems. Build capabilities and ensure the application components align with specific architecture needs and meet performance goals. Responsible for analysis of requirements and data domains, integrations and technical support. Ensure alignment to Baxter's global IT standards for data handling and security. Our ideal candidate will have functional expertise in Architecture design, data, system thinking and standards. Represent R&D IT to enterprise architecture, influence and contribute to Global IT's strategic goals and architecture roadmap.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the delivery of both defined and ad-hoc Architecture services for R&D IT solution
Effectively guide the architecture, design, plan, build and delivery of R&D IT solutions
Conduct Vendor and Technology evaluations, ensuring technology stack meets Baxter specifications and appropriate data handling and cybersecurity for products that are deployed
Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of systems development efforts, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and systems flexibility
Work with the business analysts and IT Functional leads in developing Architecture and Solutions for R&D platforms
Collaborate with other Enterprise Architects to ensure the application components align with specific architecture needs and meet performance goals
Collaborate, partner with external vendors and service providers to manage solution design and delivery
Analyze and map customers’ business requirements to meet implementation objectives
Participate in Architecture reviews with the Architecture Review Board and influence architecture governance
Represent R&D IT in and influence initiatives for architecture simplification and application rationalization
Demonstrate functional expertise, and offer pragmatic guidance, including pros and cons of various implementation options
Highly collaborative work style which includes working effectively in a highly matrix team across all organizational levels
Solid business knowledge, presentation skills, verbal and written communication and teamwork skills
The ideal candidate will bring a combination of strong technology & functional understanding, process, and solution mindset. In addition, the ideal candidate should also possess:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Master’s degree preferred
10+ years of strong Technical/Functional experience designing and delivering solutions supporting enterprise applications in the Pharmaceutical or Medical Device industry
Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture frameworks or methodologies
Prior experience with SaaS solutions, public cloud, and cloud native architectures
Proven applications leadership, identifying, designing, planning, developing, building implementing, and supporting enterprise technology solutions / architecture with R&D systems
Superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
Ability to blend process excellence with a solution mindset to solve business problems
Experience communicating complex business / technical challenges in a simplified manner
Ability to deal with ambiguity and thrive in a constantly changing and evolving work environment
Strong organizational skills and management of multiple priorities with competing demands for resources
