We have an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Maintenance Mechanic on 3rd Shift (11pm -7am) at our South Plainfield, NJ location. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for contributing to the general maintenance of the plant in keeping equipment and the facility in optimum operating condition and to support the Maintenance Manager through exhibited knowledge of mechanics, machine shop practices, mechanical support and equipment installations and modifications.

This is a great opportunity to work with a diverse group of individuals with plenty of room for growth and advancement. The Maintenance Mechanic reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Responsibilities include:

  • Uses a systematic approach in solving problems through root cause analysis of problems and evaluations of solutions
  • Demonstrates knowledge of technical skills to include but not limited to: welding, fabrication, mill or lathe work, electrical skills, plumbing skills, drill press operation, and comprehension of diagrams
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment
  • Working knowledge of production support system within a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrates knowledge of plant and process safety rules, safe operating methods, good housekeeping and GMPs
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments
  • Responsible for reporting issues related to food packaging safety or quality
  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • 3+ years’ experience in Equipment Maintenance
  • Technical Understanding and application of fabrication; mig, tig and arc welding, drill and tap holes
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting
  • Practical knowledge and application of basic safety practices and use of power tools
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision. Shows concern for quality work
  • Ability to use tools and work with job specific equipment and machinery
  • Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate, timely root cause analyses
