We are seeking an experienced General Manager (at least 10 years) for our Metal Fabrication Company. ONLY LOCAL CANDIDATES WILL BE CONSIDERED. This is a very hands on position that involves many different tasks. This definitely isn't a sit at your computer type of position. The candidate is responsible for the day to day manufacturing activities. Coordinates activities of the production department with various support departments and ensures that all plant goals are met in a timely and cost effective manner. Responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, resolving problems and team building. This is a very hands-on position. It entails much more than just working at a computer all day.
SCOPE: General manager for our fabrication shop with several divisions including fieldwork/industrial repairs/equipment installation and metal fabrication/welding. Strong knowledge and background of metal fabrication is a must.
1. Works to ensure the safety of all employees including arrangement of safety training.
2. Mentors and develops Personnel and measures their performance toward established goals.
3. Manages manufacturing, responsible for training, safety, discipline, efficiency, product quality, continuous improvement and employee development to achieve company objectives.
4 . Collaborates with the Shop Foreman to establish production schedules for all departments to meet Customer demands, including on-time delivery and industry or better lead times at the lowest possible cost.
5 . Assures efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement of methods and elimination of wasteful practices within the facility.
6. Promotes effective working relationships, interactive processes and communications between all departments (including departments outside direct control).
7 . Operates within budget and contributes to the overall reduction of overhead and expenses.
8 . Establishes objectives and goals in conjunction with the Shop Foreman.
Qualifications: BS Degree and metal fabrication management experience or at least ten years management experience in a manufacturing or production environment with insightful mechanical and analytical ability required. Detailed, practical knowledge and experience in generally accepted welding practices and fabrication techniques would be a plus. Ability to read and interpret General Arrangement Drawings. Past experience in successful Team Building is also a plus.Must have good communication skills. Computer literate in Microsoft Excel, Word, Autocad and Microsoft Project.
