DLR Group is seeking a high energy professional with a passion for building brands to join an ambitious team that intends to transform the model of marketing communications in the A/E/C industry.
As the Director of Public Relations, you will join the firm’s in-house Creative Services Agency to guide media strategy and supervise the development of digital, video, and analogue content to tell the stories of DLR Group’s design and people via all media channels. You will lead a national team to engage proactively and reactively with journalists, media outlets, and industry influencers to articulate and promote DLR Group’s integrated design expertise. You will collaborate and counsel client sector leaders and marketing professionals, design discipline leaders, and firm leadership to implement marketing communications strategies to attract clients and guide them through the sales funnel.
The Successful Candidate:
Leads a media relations team responsible for engaging influencers in multiple client sectors
Demonstrates positive leadership behaviors that inspire confidence with a passion for coaching, mentoring, and enhancing the professional development of team members
Establishes a high bar for sharp ideas, flawless execution, and measurable results from all team members
Is a creative person who can "think on their feet" beyond the traditional approach of PR and exploit opportunities within new media
Develops workable budgets, work plans and realistic timetables and can lead productive meetings of team members
Keeps tabs on industry best practices and competitor brand activity to ensure DLR Group Creative Services delivers fresh ideas and solutions for our internal clients
Establishes measurable objectives and monitor KPIs to gauge the effectiveness of media relations strategies and integrated marketing campaigns with the ability to refine programs and projects as needed to improve results.
Collaborates with leaders across multiple client sectors and internal disciplines to ensure consistency of enterprise messaging and brand voice and style
Is confident in counseling senior executives in a dispersed executive structure
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in integrated marketing communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field
Strategic thinker with exceptional oral communications as well as writing and editing skills, with the ability to articulate a clear point of view on complex issues in clear, concise communications.
Proven success in creating and executing high profile communication initiatives
Strong interpersonal skills to foster relationships and navigate cross-functionally across different firm units and with outside partners
Keen understanding of integrating marketing tactics with traditional and social media as part of communications campaigns to attract, engage, convert, and retain clients and talent
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of seven years of experience leading strategic media relations programs for a professional services enterprise
Three+ years of management experience
A deep understanding of design trends and relationships with journalists/commentators/critics covering design, architecture, engineering, and interiors at design, client vertical trade, and national consumer/news media
Strong consulting skills and the ability to help leaders understand how media relations fits into larger communications and marketing plan
