The Senior Accountant is a divisional staff accounting position with good working knowledge of full cycle accounting. Analyzes and resolves variances and significant changes and distributes monthly financial statements to management. Reviews, prepares and reconciles journal entries, performs account analysts, and reconciles inventories, receivables and fixed asset accounts.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Compute and prepare data for journal entry review, prepare and reconcile journal entries, performs account analyses, and reconciles inventories, receivables and fixed asset accounts
Review general ledger and related financial statements
Assist in preparation of balance sheets, P&L statements, and other financial reports
Assist in analyzing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligation incurred to forecast future revenues and expenses
Review charges, expenses, revenue and other accounting data to determine proper allocation, recommend changes to management and resolve questions and discrepancies
Prepare accounting records, documents and consolidated accounting reports for the company and analyze and resolve variances and significant changes
Compile and prepare monthly financial statements, reports and schedules on a regular and ad-hoc basis
Provide information to Corporate Accounting to aid in corporate consolidation of accounting reports
Review expense and income items to prevent financial problems in early stages of development
Investigate fluctuating and/or high variances in expense items
Research errors and discrepancies and take corrective action as needed
Assist external auditors in preparation of the annual financial records as directed, and research specific items and problems as requested to resolve issues
Prepare annual financial summaries including analyses of profit and loss and general ledger documents
Prepare monthly ad hoc management reports and analyses as directed
Prepare journal entries for month end close
Prepare account reconciliations and analysis
Assist in the preparation of the monthly financial statements
Provide accounting support to field operations
Complete ad hoc reports and special projects
B.A. or B.S. degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent
Minimum 6 years’ experience in an Accounting environment
Must be PC and Microsoft Word/Excel proficient
Knowledge of Oracle Financial Accounting System
Good communication skills
The position requires considerable sitting, typing and the ability to move objects of less than 25 pounds.
The working environment is indoors and is seasonally heated and cooled with minimal noise levels. The position requires the ability to communicate in person, telephonically and via email
