Penn State Health is seeking an operations-savvy influencer to take on an exciting new role as Director, Penn State Children’s Hospital!

This position is the key operations leader for the Children’s Hospital providing director-level administrative support to the VP of Operations, and supporting the operations of the Children's Hospital Executive Team (CHET). Under the oversight of CHET, the incumbent will manage capital, human, and material resources related to the programs of the Children’s Hospital and will play a key role in the decision-making process. This Director will also develop policies, procedures and training to enhance service, quality and cost. This individual will also have management responsibility for specific hospital related programs and contracts (e.g. Perinatal Program, (Milk Bank, Children's Hospital Association, among others). This role works with stakeholders across multiple support and clinical disciplines to ensure coordination of initiatives from a holistic/global perspective and is responsible for driving those initiatives forward.

Provide leadership for the CH in conjunction with the CHET and both hospital and system administration. Play a key role in the strategic planning and business development activities associated with the CH and participate in the strategic planning process for key departments that comprise the service offerings of the CH. This will include ensuring that CH programs and services are structured and organized for success; identifying opportunities for new or expanded programs; developing, proposing, and implementing select programs; and establishing methods to measure and communicate about these initiatives and other performance measures. Promote and enhance effective communication of the vision of the CH along with these goals and initiatives, while maintaining our institutional priorities of Respect, Integrity, Teamwork and Excellence.

Work in conjunction with Finance and other key medical center leaders in the development of the annual budget and routinely review performance, understanding variances and working to resolve gaps. Coordinate and collaborate on the organization and use of shared resources across functional areas. Provide rationale and monitoring for shared positions and resources.

Oversee key Children’s programs, either directly or in conjunction with other operations managers/directors, including the perinatal program, the Level 1 Children’s Surgical Verification Program, the Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Program, children’s hospital quality programs (such as Solutions for Patient Safety, Virtual PICU, Vermont Oxford Network) among others.

In conjunction with Marketing, the Children’s Hospital Director creates and implements marketing campaigns, and leads efforts related to the CH participating in industry surveys that promote the quality of care and the services offered.

As an engaging people-leader, the Director will motivate and energize staff within the Children’s Hospital and across these teams to develop and maintain personal and team based competency in areas of quality, cost, utilization efficiency and patient/customer satisfaction.

The Director will also serve as the key coordinator of Children’s Hospital Development initiatives, including CMN and Four Diamonds as well as other Development-related funds and activities.

As quality champion the Children’s Hospital Director will monitor and facilitate quality and safety initiatives (e.g. Programmatic Performance Improvement and Patient Safety programs, SPS, other CHA, Unit specific initiatives), develop a relationship with state governing bodies, and collaborate with the medical center’s regulatory department to assure compliance with expectations and standards set forth by TJC and DOH.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in Healthcare or Business discipline required.

7 years of experience required.

5 years of management experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior experience in a hospital setting preferred.
