Position Title: Accounts Receivable Staff Accountant 1

Classification: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Accounting Manager


An Accounts Receivable Staff Accountant 1 is an individual with excellent communication skills, a positive attitude and the ability to think outside the box and troubleshoot problems. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 1 year of hands-on accounting experience and possess the ability to grasp basic and high-level accounting functions. This individual will help ensure financials are timely and accurate and will report to the Accounting Manager.

Essential Functions:

  • Participate in the day to day operational activities of the Accounting Department
  • Perform invoicing and collection activities for the company by invoicing, emailing, and ultimately calling clients to collect payments.
  • Receive inbound client calls to take payments, answer basic payment/payment plan questions, and arrange payment plans with the client
  • Reconcile daily cash receipts / perform bank reconciliations
  • Compliance related activities such as sales tax returns, property tax returns, etc.
  • Perform period end activities such as general ledger closing and reporting, reconciliation preparation and review, financial analysis and financial statement preparation
  • Interact and work with other departments
  • Perform other special projects as assigned

Qualifications or Competency:

  • MS Office, especially Excel & Word experience
  • Outstanding organizational skills, strong attention to details, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
  • Record of professionalism, integrity, and ethics

Supervisor Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasionally, and as needed, working hours may be extended to support periodic accounting cycles such as month/year close, tax preparation and support, annual audits and special projects where due dates and times are not flexible. Accounting staff are expected to be able to support the company and other accounting team members as needed.


Travel to offsite trainings or meetings may be required and is estimated to be less than 5%.

Required Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting, or other related field
  • Minimum 2 years Accounting experience, or equivalent
