The Immunization Clinic Nurse is a Registered Nurse and/or a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse who seeks to protect the community from vaccine preventable diseases by providing immunization services to the general public. The nurse assesses the immunization status of clients, administers vaccines, and educates clients and caregivers about immunizations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Meets professional nursing standards and pertinent local, state, and federal requirements
Maintains and delivers quality service
Sets up individual clinic sites
Reviews protocols and age-specific vaccine requirements prior to the opening of the clinic
Registers participants
Completes appropriate client Immunization Consent forms and clinic records to ensure correct vaccines are administered and documented
Draws up vaccines according to manufacturer’s instructions and administers them using safe and proper techniques and a system of double checks to ensure accuracy
Disposes of bio-hazardous waste in the appropriate and prescribed manner
Dismantles clinic site
Completes documentation
Uses and remains knowledgeable of Universal Precautions
Uses and maintains knowledge of company and clinic policies and procedures
Has knowledge of action to be taken in the event of an emergency; including epinephrine administration during an anaphylaxic reaction
Has knowledge of protocols for adverse reactions, as well as reporting of incidents and injuries.
Transports biologicals, sharps, and other required supplies to clinic sites in a safe and secure manner
Has knowledge of Vaccine Safety Control requirements
Maintains confidentiality at all times
Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:
Active professional nursing license in the state of practice
One (1) year of prior professional nursing experience preferred
Current CPR certification with documentation
Professional references required
Knowledge and understanding of the dosage, administration, age indications, precautions, contraindications and possible adverse reactions related to the vaccine being administered
Knowledge of intramuscular injection technique and subcutaneous injection technique
Completion of Maxim’s Immunization Competency Program with a score of 80% or better
Completion of Maxim’s Immunization Screening Exam and Pediatric Training DVD Module Computer proficiency required
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language
Successful completion of Maxim’s background screening and hiring process
