The IT Specialist is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems including desktops and servers.

  • Ensure that the uptime, performance, resources, and security of the computers meet the needs of the users
  • Acquire, install, and/or upgrade computer components and software
  • Provide routine automation
  • Maintain security policies
  • Troubleshoot reported problems
  • Offer technical support for projects
  • Analyze system logs to identify potential issues with computer systems
  • Introduce and integrate new technologies into existing systems
  • Perform routine audits of systems and software
  • Apply operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes
  • Install and configure new hardware and software
  • Add, remove, or update user account information
  • Manage and monitor the GPO
  • Answer technical queries and assisting users
  • Maintain system security
  • Document configuration of the system
  • System performance tuning
  • Ensure the network infrastructure is up and running
  • Configure, add, and delete file systems
  • Make recommendations for solutions and upgrades
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree in technology related field
  • VMware Horizon View experience preferred
  • Microsoft Certification preferred
  • Knowledge of operating systems and applications, specifically Microsoft products
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software
  • Knowledge of the purposes for which team members use the computers
  • Problem solving abilities, and ability to work under various constraints and stress
  • Ability to be “on-call” in case of a system malfunction
  • Ability to quickly and correctly diagnose problems and knowledge of how to best fix it
  • Experience installing and configuring hardware and software
  • Must understand software behavior in order to deploy it and troubleshoot problems; familiarity with one or more programming languages used for scripting or automation of routine tasks is a plus
  • Must have strong grasp of computer security including, but not limited to: deploying software patches, preventing break-ins, preventing unauthorized use and other security problems by employing preventive measures and auditing use which may require partnering with other IT Administrators
