ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY: Within Academic and Student Affairs, the Office of Student Success provides academic and career services,
resources, and supports for the University of South Florida Sarasota Manatee student body.

POSITION SUMMARY: The position supports the Assistant Director of Advising in overseeing advising functions and actively manages the student advising process for undergraduate students. Though this position will primarily focus on advising undergraduate students, this position will also work closely with the faculty and the Graduate Advisor to support the seamless progression into graduate school for interested students. As a part of the advising team, this position will also train other staff members in advising practices and procedures, and assist in resolving escalated issues related to student success. The successful candidate is expected to possess extensive knowledge of academic programs, policies, procedures, and student support services within the scope of their responsibilities.

Provide direct advising, scheduling, and student registration support to undergraduate students. as Academic Advisor for USFSM. Reach out to and advise students individually and in groups concerning their academic plans and progress, academic schedule, choice of major, and other academic activities and career goals, to assist students in making informed decisions concerning educational and professional goals leading to graduation. Partner with the faculty and the Graduate Advisor to support the seamless progression into graduate school for interested students

Support the training of staff members and assist with material development regarding advising programs and policies, use of student record systems and degree audit systems.

Monitor and report on student success outcomes and strategies, including statistical data, such as detailed enrollment statistics; analyze data and write reports as requested.

Serve on committees as a representative of Student Success

This position requires a Master's degree in Education, Counseling or academic field directly related to the Advisor's specific responsibilities; or a Bachelor's degree in those same fields with a minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in advising or related academic functions within higher education. Work experience may not be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement for this position.
