Summary

The Category Sourcing Manager will provide support for overall sourcing activities of professional services, IT, T&E and other categories as assigned for the US Xpress to drive the major US Xpress goal of cost management. The incumbent will collaborate and partner with the functional stakeholders to enhance the supplier sourcing process, leverage spend between multiple sites and execute supply/purchase agreements with preferred suppliers. Also, will ensure complete stakeholder alignment, and the development and implementation of effective category strategies that are aligned with goals of the stakeholders and the overall business objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities

Identify, develop, and manage strategic business relationships and gain a comprehensive understanding of business requirements for maintenance categories.
Evaluate supplier performance and establish sources for newer technologies and markets as business requirements expand.
Employ effective negotiation skills (contracts and proposals) as well as significant influencing skills needed to enlist support across many levels in the organization.
Support functional leadership by providing benchmarking and subject matter expertise, challenging spend behavior and ensuring strategic sourcing process and decision-making are firmly embedded.
Prepare and make presentations to senior management concerning major projects and milestones.
Manage processes for supplier sourcing, selection and de-selection, qualification and performance.
Develop fact based supplier classifications.
Manage and monitor supplier performance and quality control activities.
Develop and manage key reports, including cost savings reports, management reports, and key supplier management metrics and reporting.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor degree in related field or equivalent experience required. Equivalent years of experience are defined as one year of professional experience for each year of college requested.

Experience

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in sourcing professional services, IT, marketing, and T&E categories required.
Experience in the transportation industry a plus.

Skills/Certifications

Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
Strong negotiation and presentation skills
Strong knowledge of the strategic sourcing process
Strong project management skills
Excellent leadership, teamwork, and effective business partnering capabilities
Must be able to work across all functions and levels of an organization
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a complex organization
Comfort with C-suite levels
Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM, CSCP) or equivalent, and/or graduate degree a plus

Work Environment: this job operates in a normal professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and fax machines, and filing cabinets.

Physical Requirements: while performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear; frequently stands, walks, uses hands to finger, handle or feel; and reaches with hands and arms.
