Smithsonian Channel is a joint venture between Showtime Networks and the Smithsonian Institution. Our awe-inspiring programs, powerful documentaries and entertaining factual stories shine new light on popular genres such as air and space, history, science, nature, travel and pop culture. From legacy series such as Aerial America, Million Dollar American Princesses and Air Disasters to recent hits like America in Color, The Lost Tapes and The Coronation, our award-winning programming is available across multiple platforms in HD and 4K Ultra HD. The Channel is also available internationally in Canada, Singapore and Latin America, with more international launches to come in 2019. We currently have offices in New York City and Washington, DC.
The Manager of Promotional Planning and Scheduling will be involved in formulating the company’s on-air promotional strategy and will be in charge of scheduling all promotional spots on Smithsonian Networks’ US channel and expanding number of international channels.
Schedule promos and secondary events on US channel and time out logs for air.
Schedule promos on international channels and time our logs for air.
Create and update media plans for the domestic channel.
Run promotional planning meetings.
Perform interstitial duties such as creating tags, entering inventory in scheduling system, and opening jobs for spots to be prepared for air.
Additional ad hoc projects as needed.
3-5 years of promotional planning and scheduling experience in the television industry
Self-motivated team player
Strong organization skills
Ability to master multiple software programs
