What you’ll be doing...
Our team is part of the CDS organization (Commercial Data Systems) and is responsible for the operations and engineering support of the following Messaging Platforms:
MMSC (Multimedia Messaging Service Center)
MMSC LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol)
VMG (Verizon Messaging Gateway)
VMP (Verizon Messaging Proxy)
We strive to maintain our platforms availability to our customers by providing 24/7 support.
The main responsibilities of the selected candidate will be:
Lead engineer for new installations, network integration, feature activation and software upgrades of our platforms.
Lead engineer in the migration of applications to Verizon Cloud Platform (VCP). This includes installation, instantiation, planning of the Virtual Network Functions (VNF).
Preparing Capacity and Demand reports to forecast platform needs.
Providing expert support during troubleshooting sessions for platform related issues found that require immediate resolution.
Interacting with cross functional internal teams such as: HQ Planning, Maintenance Engineering and other organizations to design and deploy components for optimal efficiency and reliability.
Interacting and managing vendors and suppliers of our platforms.
Providing support to other team members.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Four or more years of relevant work experience.
Three or more years of telecommunications and/or Information Systems experience.
Three or more years of UNIX/Linux experience.
Even better if you have:
A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
Four or more years of experience in wireless telecommunications or IT systems operations.
Knowledge of MMS protocols (MM1, MM3, MM4, MM7 interfaces) and MMS call flows.
Knowledge of SMS and SMPP protocols and call flows.
Advanced knowledge of IP network services, server load balancing, routing, and protocols, such as HTTP/HTTPS, SMTP, SMPP, SNPP, WCTP, XML, SNMP, and LDAP.
Experience with Virtualized Network Functions (VNF) and Software Defined Networks (SDN).
Proven experience of applications instantiations in OpenStack.
Proven experience managing applications hosted in AWS.
Advanced troubleshooting skills of network and application issues.
Experience in utilizing monitoring tools such as Netscout, Sev One.
Red Hat Linux System Administrator (RHCSA) or equivalent certification or demonstrated Linux experience.
CCNA or equivalent certification or demonstrated networking experience.
Experience with scripting (Shell, Python, Perl, etc.).
Experience with packet capture analysis (Wireshark) to detect and solve network or application related problems.
Willingness to travel.
