Project Manager/Mid-Level Landscape Designer

P. Allen Smith & Associates have an immediate opening for a project manager/mid-level landscape designer. If you have experience in designing high-end materiality-driven gardens and would like to continue to build your skills in a collaborative studio atmosphere, we would like to hear from you.

We seek candidates with the following attributes:

  • Thorough knowledge of landscape architecture and garden design processes, from initial concepts through design maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of landscape materials, construction methods, and ecological processes
  • Highly organized to manage internal project workflows, consultant teams, project budgets/schedules and contract administration
  • Skilled in creating project and marketing graphics, both digital and analogue
  • Ability to efficiently produce high-quality design construction documentation
  • Interest in classical architecture, vernacular American design, and strong horticultural techniques
  • Willingness to listen and collaborate effectively
  • Ability to discretely manage high-profile client relationships
  • Willingness to travel

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in landscape architecture
  • 3-5 years or more in professional practice
  • Landscape architecture licensure preferred, but not required
  • Experience in materiality-driven high end landscape design is preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office
  • Expertise in landscape detailing is preferred: e.g. site grading, drainage, irrigation, paving
  • Hands-on experience in horticulture, landscape construction, or landscape maintenance
