Lyon College seeks an Associate Director of Communications to serve in the marketing and communication department of the College. The Associate Director is an integral member of the communications team with primary responsibility for writing and editing print and online content. Additional responsibilities include contributing to College social media platforms; assisting with written content directed to prospective students; expanding and strengthening relationships with media contacts; serving as editor of the biannual alumni magazine; and attending events and occasionally travelling for interviews to provide content for College publications.
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in journalism, marketing, or a related field. An advanced writing/English degree is preferred but not required. The successful candidate will have experience with Mac and PC platforms, Adobe InDesign, and Photoshop with Adobe Creative Suite preferred. Additionally, evidence of exemplary writing, thorough knowledge of grammar and usage, editing, and verbal skills along with keen attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines are required. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team and maintain a high level of confidentiality are desired.
