JT4 provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. We develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments, and prepare our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.
RANGE POSITION DESCRIPTION - Works as a team member on projects and tasks providing computer hardware and operating system solutions for the team or task.
Performs the daily operational support on the computer Operating System to include system security, access, configuration, backups and restores. Specifies network requirements, monitors LAN performance, troubleshoots networking hardware and insures system is working properly according to specifications and parameters. Specifies hardware requirements and provides Computer Authorization and custodial receipt listings to track equipment configurations and identification logs. Serves as POC for problem reporting, incremental version updates and monitors yearly support contracts. Makes recommendations for future hardware/software implementations and related process improvements, schedules, plans and performs system upgrades including the transition from design, test, production and documentation environments. Provides operational status as required. Uses established policies and procedures and subject matter knowledge to complete complex assignments requiring originality and ingenuity performed under minimum supervision with considerable latitude for independent contribution. Analyzing system logs and identifying potential issues with computer systems. Manage and administer storage solutions including NAS and SAN systems. Research, integrate, or place new technologies into the existing data center. Applicant must have Security + certification. Should be knowledgeable in Linux, Centos Version 7, Microsoft server 2016, Window 10, and Active Directory. Should have knowledge of Cisco networking. Knowledge of telemetry systems is desirable, as well as Window Hyper-V, Linux KVM, and VMWARE. Ability to write scripts in various shell languages is needed, and program in C++ is desired. Able to research project needs and make recommendations for system hardware and/or software acquisitions as needed to provide government with Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) proposals for new projects as they are submitted. REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE - The incumbent must have a Bachelor's Degree in an associated discipline a (Computer Science, Computer Information Technology or Mathematics) and at least 4 years of related experience or have a Master's Degree in an associated discipline and at least 2 years of experience, or a PhD in an associated discipline. Incumbent must possess effective oral and written communication skills. Must have experience with computer based systems and applications. Must have programming skills in languages used for job specific programming tasks, and familiarization with the application of industry standard hardware and software design and documentation techniques. Applicant must have experience with systems engineering and software development lifecycles. Must obtain and maintain a security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen.
