Summary of Duties
The Department of French and Italian, within the College of Arts and Sciences, seeks tenure-track Assistant Professor of Italian with a specialization in Film and Media Studies to join our team. The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest college and the academic heart of the university. The College hosts 81 majors. With 38 departments, 20+ world-class research centers, and more than 2,000 faculty and staff members, students have the unique opportunity to study with the best artists, scholars, and scientists in their field. The anticipated start date is August 15, 2020. Preference will be given to candidates with proven interdisciplinary interests in fields such as environmental studies, Mediterranean studies, popular cultural studies, fashion studies, food studies, gender and sexuality studies, postcolonial studies, the digital humanities, disability studies, or performance studies. We seek a colleague who will: develop general education courses that appeal to a wide and diverse student body; contribute to one or more of our existing departmental strengths in screen and performance studies, popular and material cultures, or migration studies; contribute to interdisciplinary initiatives across campus relating to their research and teaching areas, including the Film Studies Program; and be instrumental in our department's PhD programs. Teaching duties include graduate and undergraduate courses in English and Italian, including large-enrollment general education film and media courses in English.
