Job Description:

The Contributions Specialist processes all liquid contributions and provides excellent customer service including solving problems for our givers. This includes receiving and reviewing all cash contributions (checks, cash, wires, credit cards, and e-checks) and security contributions given through various brokerage firms. The Contributions Specialist also ensures the timely deposit and liquidation of both cash and security contributions; ensures that all contributions are posted to the correct donor advised fund according to our service level agreements; and ensures that receipts are issued to donors in a timely manner. The Contributions Specialist provides caring and professional service to all donors, local offices, financial advisors, and staff. In addition, the Contributions Specialist demonstrates expertise in solving all cash and securities issues. This person also adheres to all organizational and departmental procedures and polices.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Processes cash contributions - including deposits to bank, posting contributions to the correct donor advised funds, and receipting donors
Processes security contributions - includes monitoring brokerage accounts for incoming securities, ensuring that securities are sold within the next business day, obtaining sale confirmations, identifying and posting contributions to the correct donor fund, receipting donors, and filing related documents
Responds to and researches all inquiries from donors, financial advisors, brokers, and staff related to contributions and solves any problem or exceptional items in a timely manner
Processes note payments, fund to fund transfers, and all contributions received electronically - wires, ACH’s, e-checks, and credit cards
Prepares any paperwork necessary for mutual fund transfers, restricted securities, and securities gifted in certificate form
Communicates with brokerage firms and transfer agents to obtain status of security transfers

Seeks opportunities to improve processes and systems to make contributions processing more efficient

Required Experience:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training and/or Experience
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or related field with two (2) to three (3) years of related experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics

Able to perform duties independently with general supervision
Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
Knowledge of charitable, non-profit, foundation, and/or donor related subject matters
Maintains sensitivity concerning business, donor, and local office confidential matters
High degree of integrity and highly ethical
Some knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
Ability to communicate on all levels and with diverse groups of people
Able to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines
Able to write reports and business correspondence
Strong attention to detail
Computer skills: Microsoft Office applications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or related field with two (2) to three (3) years of experience. Previous experience in monitoring brokerage accounts for incoming securities, selling securities and obtaining sale confirmations.
