WHAT YOU’LL DO
We are looking for a QA Test Engineer to develop and test our real-time video transport and remote-control studio applications.
In this role you will get the opportunity to “wear many hats” as we collaboratively iterate our products. Our software team participates across the SDLC, working on requirements specification, prototyping, implementation, testing, and release management. This role will have a primary focus on (but will not be limited to) testing and QA of our Java based web application and our video encoding and transmission products.
Candidates who enjoy working on a small test-driven development team would be a great fit for us. Also, a high value is placed on a candidate’s ability to not only expose issues but to also recommend and implement innovative solutions. Work will be completed on an almost entirely Linux-based environment. Our products focus on broadcast video production and transmission, video compression and real-time streaming. Experience with video and video production is a plus but is not required.
Due to the hardware centric nature of our products, candidates should expect to work hands-on with our technology, especially while coming up to speed. Depending on skill set and experience, there is potential for this to be a remote position with regularly scheduled visits to our headquarters in Newton, MA.
Day-to-day responsibilities
Ensure software performance and reliability through thoughtful R&D and testing processes
Develop/execute test cases and create documentation to allow others to execute manual tests
Create and implement improvements to our video capture, streaming and production solutions
Contribute to software design and architecture discussions, with a focus on testability
Develop and maintain project documents and product objectives to satisfy customer needs
Review code with a focus on quality, efficiency, readability, limiting tech debt, and testability
Manage development tools including source control, build environment, staging environment, etc.
Edit and create internal technical documentation to aid support staff
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Must-have skills & job qualifications
4+ years of software testing experience
Experience working within an Agile environment
Experience writing test cases and test plans
Linux Experience
Ability to work occasional off-hour shifts to support late night software releases
Knowledge of computer hardware components
Basic familiarity with Internet protocols
Nice-to-have skills & job qualifications
Experience writing source code (Java, C++), fixing bugs and/or desire to grow in this area
Strong Linux experience and bash scripting
Knowledge of networking technologies & networking protocols
Experience (or desire to grow) in Scrum master role
Experience with Jira & Confluence
Strong oral and written communications skills
Familiarity with developing and testing web applications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering
