Job Purpose:
Found Animals seeks a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Retail & Adoption Associate. This position is responsible for supporting the culture of Found Animals within a retail adoption program called Adopt & Shop. This position reports to the Operations Manager for Adopt & Shop – Culver City. This is a part-time hourly position (20 - 25 hours/week, $11/hour) and will be based in animal-friendly Culver City, California.This position requires working evenings and weekends.

The Found Animals Foundation, Inc. (Found Animals) is a Los Angeles based 501(c)(3) with a mission to develop innovative solutions that minimize the euthanasia of pets in animal shelters. The organization is a social entrepreneurship venture committed to bringing business principles to bear in addressing animal welfare issues. Found Animals is well funded and managed by business and medical professionals. Duties:
Provide world class care to all animals within our Culver City Adopt & Shop location, which is to include but is not limited to the following:
Kennel cleaning
Walking dogs
Administering medication (as needed)
Socializing animals
Daycare monitoring
Assist in adoption counseling to potential Pet Parents, ensuring all aspects of pet care are detailed to create successful adoption matches.
Deliver exceptional customer service to all guests who enter the Adopt & Shop.
Oversee the safe and effective transport and care of animals.
Recommend, select or help locate merchandise based on the customer’s needs and desires.
Ticket, stock, arrange and display merchandise to promote sales and maintain well kept shelves.
Maintain a clean environment by fronting and facing merchandise, dusting shelves/counters and keeping all kennels appropriately labeled.
Open and close registers, performing tasks such as counting money, handling coupons, handling checks, balancing cash drawers and making deposits.
Watch for and recognize safety/security risks and communicate them effectively in order to prevent injury/theft.
Maintain a clean, well groomed appearance that represents our brand well and is welcoming to Pet Parents.
Provide feedback to peers and the Volunteer Team, offering constructive criticism and praise to train and develop all Staff within Adopt & Shop.
Willingness to ask questions and seek additional information either through Adopt & Shop or independent research.
Stay informed with what is going on at Adopt & Shop, through the communication tools provided within the store.
Proactively seek solutions to challenges at Adopt & Shop and share with Store Management.

Skills/Qualifications:
Minimum of 1-2 years retail experience required
Animal handling experience in an animal shelter, veterinary office or pet store setting strongly preferred
Knowledge of cats & dogs as companion animals and the ability to recognize change in an animal’s health or demeanor.
Knowledge of animals welfare and cat/dog health issues
Comfortable handling dogs/cats of all sizes and breeds
Impartial knowledge of the Los Angeles area shelters and rescues is helpful
Proven ability to handle all aspects of prior job duties and executing them to satisfaction
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to interact constructively with a wide range of personalities
Motivated self-starter with great attitude, flexibility, and entrepreneurial spirit
Must be creative, detail oriented, and resourceful with excellent follow through skills
Able to work under pressure to prioritize and manage workload, manage simultaneous tasks and meet deadlines within a fast paced and changing environment
Proficient in Microsoft software applications

Essential Functions:
Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 lbs.
Rarely lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.

High School Diploma or greater
