Plans, directs and oversees the daily operations of four value streams in two high-volume manufacturing facilities. Responsible for the overall direction, supervision and performance of the production and tool room departments. Develops and implements strategies with production and tool room leaders to deliver customer expectations while achieving business commitments for safety, quality and cost.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
(20%) Oversees the day-to-day production in a multiple shift, high-volume manufacturing facilities in accordance with established policies, principals and procedures. (15%) Directs and coordinates the work efforts of multiple production departments and the tool room to achieve daily plant operational targets while fulfilling customer commitments. (10%) Sets priorities for production schedules based on tool/equipment availability and materials supply. (10%) Develops plans to efficiently utilize available associates, while achieving plant metrics and satisfying customer demands. (10%) Plans, develops, and implements methods and procedures designed to improve operations, quality and safety; minimize operating costs; and effect greater utilization of labor and materials. (8%) Prepares and manages departmental labor and overhead budgets. Controls expenditures of funds to budget with appropriate countermeasures when variances to plan occur. (7%) Manages direct labor staffing model to ensure proper plant headcount to meet both budgeted cost requirements and customer demand. (5%) Leads operations cross-training program to ensure workforce flexibility to improve production output and labor efficiency. (5%) Collaborates with support departments to improve equipment up-time, product quality and process capability. (5%) Ensures that the plant operations employees follow all prescribed EHS policies and procedures and actively promotes and enforces a safe and healthy workplace for all employees. (5%) Reviews new product plans and provides approval on all equipment, tooling or staffing needs and modifications.
Education and Experience Profile
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Business, Management or Engineering; or 10 years equivalent experience
5-7 years’ work experience in manufacturing including knowledge of world class manufacturing techniques.
3-5 years of supervisory experience required
Understanding of industrial manufacturing operations, cell manufacturing process and statistics.
A strong sense of business acumen
Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Action orientated, with the ability to implement change quickly
Strong analytical and problem solving skills are required
Leads and directs the work of others
A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required
Outstanding communication skills are required
Six Sigma black belt certification preferred
Working conditions are normal for an office environment and non-climate controlled manufacturing plant.
May require domestic and international travel 10% of the time
