Ancestry is looking for a Next Generation Sequencing Technical Specialist, to join our DNA Science team. The DNA Science team’s goal is to deliver the next generation of consumer genomic tests to shed light on human diversity, origins, relationships, and health. As an NGS Technical Specialist you will help deliver on this mission by using your genomics technical and operational skills to support our laboratory partners, our customers, and new product development for Ancestry’s direct-to-consumer DNA test.
What You Will Do:
Bring a solid understanding of Next Generation Sequencing laboratory processes and quality control
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and our laboratory partners to identify quality and/or process improvements
Improve processes to optimize performance and scale
Collaborate with teams to transition research protocols to production
Bring a strong understanding of compliance and regulatory considerations necessary when providing health related genomic data to consumers
Who You Are:
Bachelors or master’s degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, Genetics, or another quantitative field
3 years of professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Self-starter with strong communication skills and sense of ownership to complete projects independently while thriving in team environment
Able to apply feedback in a professional manner
Familiarity with methods used to analyze genomic data
Certification through American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist (MT or CLS) or Molecular Biology (MB) scientist
