DIRECTOR OF INTERGROUP RELATIONS AND OUTREACH
Commission on Human Relations
Number of Vacancies: 1
Coordinates the work of the IGR staff.
Develops community outreach plans.
Develops anti-bias educational programs.
Assists staff with community tension related mediations.
Publicizes the work of the CCHR on social media and develops materials for posting on the department’s website.
Develops content and performs technical functions for online webinar programs.
Represents the CCHR at community meetings and speaks on issues related to the work of the IGR unit.
Develops work standards and objectives and conducts performance evaluations of staff.
Reviews staff reports and prepares his or her own reports.

THIS POSITION IS EXEMPT FROM CAREER SERVICE
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in the Social Sciences or a directly related field, plus five years of community or social service experience of which two years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience provided that the minimum degree requirement is met
Licensure, Certification, or Other Qualifications
A valid State of Illinois driver's license is required.
Must have the permanent use of an automobile that is properly insured, including a clause specifically insuring the City of Chicago from accident liability.

DAYS OFF: Saturday and Sunday
HOURS: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This position requires applicants to complete an interview which will include a written exercise and/or a skills assessment test as part of the interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral and written parts of the interview will be selected.

Eligible candidates must have at least six months of active duty documented. Failure to answer the question and attach the required documentation will result in you not being considered for the Veterans Preference.
Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:
Master’s degree in the Social Sciences or a directly related field.
Previous program management work experience.
Previous work experience developing, managing, and conducting community outreach plans.
Previous work experience in conflict resolution or mediation.
Proficiency using Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Previous work experience developing content and performing technical functions for online webinar programs.
Bilingual (Chinese, Polish, Arabic, or Hindi).

Residency Requirement: All employees of the City of Chicago must be actual residents of the City of Chicago as outlined in 2-152-050 of the City of Chicago Municipal Code. Proof of residency will be required.
