Job Summary:
Uses specialized knowledge in data networking to recommend enterprise solution direction and participates in the development of an integrated corporate networking strategy. Produces complex designs which balance the fulfillment of business requirements and technical considerations. May lead small to medium, cross-departmental initiatives and projects. Handles complex problems independently and demonstrates analytical thinking. Is able to make judgements and recommendations based on the analysis and interpretation of data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides a high degree of knowledge in the design of the communications infrastructure, specializing in data/voice networking.
  • Creates and manages system documentation and technical diagrams.
  • Manages the evaluation and implementation of new products technologies covering a variety of voice and/or data networking disciplines.
  • Resolves complex technical issues and conduct research in areas where established solutions are not available.
  • Designs and supports strategy for Business Continuity Planning (BCP).
  • Submits written project plans as required.
  • Coordinates the efforts of others related to project implementations and information gathering.
  • Budgets for upcoming projects, general expansions and equipment refresh.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Experience and Skills:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or related degree and five (5) years of relevant experience including network configuration and design or combination of training, education and experience.
  • Computer Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification or the ability to obtain within six (6) months
  • Advanced knowledge of the following highly preferred:
  • IP network design practices and principles.
  • WAN/LAN network technologies and related protocols.
  • Wireless networking technologies (802.11x).
  • Converged voice and data infrastructures.
  • Quality of Service (QOS) design and configuration.
  • Web server content switching and network design.
  • Network security best practices and supporting technologies.
  • Common network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Integrating cross-platform design considerations into a comprehensive strategy.
  • Configuration of routers, switches, and content switching devices.
  • Troubleshooting communication issues of all types, including the use of protocol analyzers.
  • IP address allocation and subnetting.
  • Knowledge of SDWAN capabilities and design
  • WAN acceleration
  • Design and configuration of routing protocols and VLANs.
  • May work a non-standard shift including nights and/or weekends and/or have on-call responsibilities
  • Computer Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification or the ability to obtain within six (6) months
