We are looking for an external communications director for our office in Salt Lake City, UT. This communications professional will lead a team of multi-skilled marketers in public relations, social media, and content marketing to support the brand positioning and marketing objectives of CHG’s family of healthcare staffing brands.
This director is responsible for team leadership, strategic planning, and results-driven execution across multiple brands including CompHealth, Weatherby Healthcare, Global Medical Staffing, RNnetwork, Foundational Medical Staffing, and Locumstory.com. Key audiences include healthcare providers and facilities, media, and other stakeholders.
The communication director must effectively work with an outside PR agency, lead the in-house communication team, and work closely with leaders and team members across the marketing department. This individual will also collaborate with the company’s employee communication leaders and team to ensure alignment between internal and external messaging.
This is a high-impact position that requires strong leadership, coaching, collaboration, stakeholder enrollment, and communication skills — all while caring about the company’s purpose and the people who help make it happen every day.
Your role:1. Leadership:
Leads a team of talented PR, content, and social media professionals.
Fosters engagement within the team and facilitates growth and development opportunities for each member.
Allocates projects among staff members, prioritizing projects and shifting budgets as priorities change.
Collaborates with department directors, managers, and staff to meet the needs of the brands and customers.

2. Drives external brand reputation through public relations, content development, and social media.
3. Media Relations:
Leads public relations planning and strategy, including media outreach, award submissions, presentation development, etc.
Oversees relationships with public relations agencies and media outlets.
Provides media coaching to leaders and senior executives.
Monitors media coverage and evaluates effectiveness of media relations efforts through coverage tracking, content analysis, and market research.
4. Content Development:
Oversees strategy for content development for multiple brands, including blog posts, resource pages, sales enablement tools, etc.
Ensures content is relevant, engaging to our audiences, and optimized for search.
5. Social Media:
Oversees strategy for using social media as a promotional, engagement, and listening tool for multiple brands across several channels (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube).
Oversees online reputation management efforts
Works closely with marketing and video team to create shareable assets including videos, quizzes, campaigns, etc.
6. Collaborates with marketing team to develop integrated communication campaigns to maximize reach and impact of messages.
7. Establishes key metrics for success and reports progress to key internal constituents.
8. Establishes and maintains relationships with leaders throughout the organization.
9. Develops crisis communication plans and responses.
10. Regularly evaluates and implements digital communication tools and platforms.
11. Prepares, reviews, and monitors the overall PR budget and balances finite resources and multiple requests for projects with overall goals.
Experience in developing, leading, and executing broad marketing and public relations plans that include reputation management, SEO, sales enablement, and online engagement considerations
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experienced in interviewing subject matter experts (in person, on the phone, and on video)
Ability to assess media landscape for our audiences and make partnership recommendations
Experience in working with, coaching, influencing, and communicating on behalf of senior leaders
Experience in growing and developing team members
Ability to evaluate personnel and implement long-term staff structure
Ability to create and implement strategic communications programs within budget and timeframes
Fluent in various digital marketing and creative tools, including content management systems, social media platforms, analytics programs, and SEO tools
Must provide portfolio of work
Education & Years of Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations
A minimum of 10 years’ experience, preferably in a public relations agency, large company, or consultancy environment
5 or more years of direct people/team leadership
Experience in a healthcare-related field
