The Buyer procures assigned items and ensures material availability to support production plans. The Buyer maintains a high in stock level while managing inventory, ensuring lowest cost buying, and advancing supplier relationships.
JOB FUNCTION AND DUTIES
- Utilize finished goods forecasting and other data to effectively plan to materials supply
- Procure materials and follow on their timely shipment to the appropriate manufacturing or packing facility
- Build positive and productive supplier relationships
- Negotiate with suppliers to optimize flow of goods and costs
- Monitor, communicate, and resolve supply issues
- Maintain targeted inventory levels and manage aged or distressed inventory
- Employ system tools to analyze item and category performance to well react to trends
- Manage ERP system maintenance on assigned items
- Ensure cost accuracy on purchase orders and resolve invoice discrepancies
- Collaborate with suppliers, customers, and internal partners to execute to customer, department, and company goals
- Work cross-functionally within the organization to successfully launch new items.
- Engage in team and project meetings
- Special projects as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA)
- Knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures
- Knowledge of inventory management, including days on hand, inventory turns and inventory costs
- Knowledge of materials, products and the commodity market in area of specialization
- Experience with contract manufacturers
- Self-starter with a high level of initiative and sense of urgency
- Ability to handle unanticipated situations and seamlessly navigate shifting priorities
- Effective oral and written communication skills

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree
- 4+ years of relevant experience
