Héroux-Devtek Inc. is an international companyspecializing in the design, development, manufacture, integration, testing and repair and overhaul of landing gear and actuation systems and components for the Aerospace market. The Corporation is the third largest landing gear company worldwide, supplying both the commercial and military sectors of the Aerospace market. The Corporation also manufactures hydraulic systems, fluid filtration systems, electronic enclosures, heat exchangers and cabinets for suppliers of airborne radar, electro-optic systems and aircraft controls.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Sets up and operates manual honing tools to hone internal surfaces of large landing gear components including cylinders, pistons, links and bushings. Analyzes specifications and selects tooling according to knowledge of honing procedures

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

  • Obtains such information as dimensions, tolerances, and number of parts in run from job order and instructions
  • Positions workpiece in fixture or on table, secures it with clamps and wrenches, verifying positions with instruments such as surface gages and dial indicators
  • Selects feed rate, honing speed, depth cut, and honing tool for each operation, according to knowledge of metal properties, abrasives, and shop mathematics
  • Measures honed workpiece for conformance to specifications, using electromechanical limit gages, surface gages, micrometers, and telescoping gages
  • May replace worn honing stones
  • Reports production time for each job to supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent and trade school, vocational education or apprenticeship

Experience:

  • 2-4 years experience in work related environment

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to read blueprints and manufacturing sketches
  • Be able to read inspection tools and have knowledge of Quality Control, gages, and micrometers
  • Have ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Have ability to select correct tools and set tool positions/sizes prior to operation
  • Understand procedures and production schedules
  • Good physical condition; able to lift heavy loads
  • Knowledge or arithmetic involving decimals, fractions and its application to the reading of drawings and measuring instruments or the calculations, and recording dimensions
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
