Full-Time Occupational Therapist

The Shafer Center in Owings Mills, Maryland is looking for a highly motivated and committed occupational therapist who is looking to make a difference in the lives of some amazing children. This is a full-time position with benefits. The Shafer Center is committed to providing treatment to children and young adults with autism spectrum and related disorders. We utilize a whole-child approach to therapy to maximize the potential of each child. We believe in small caseloads and an interdisciplinary approach in order to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children. Essential Job Duties of the Occupational Therapist:

  • Evaluate client needs and develop plan of care
  • Design and implement creative, innovative, and individualized treatment plans
  • Write comprehensive evaluations and follow-up reports to include information about current levels of ability and recommendations for intervention when required
  • Document aspects of care and meet service standards such as SOAP notes, billing forms, progress updates, reports, and other documents
  • Provide quarterly written progress using data collection procedures
  • Attend and participate in IEP meetings to include writing goals, objectives, annual reports and providing support and training to client families and caregivers
  • Promote generalization as an outcome of intervention to other settings including the classroom and to the client’s home environment
  • Develop sensory plans and diets as needed
  • Provide training to staff and caregivers as needed
  • Participate with an interdisciplinary team to collaborate and develop a comprehensive

plan of care for clients including implementing behavior intervention plans

  • Adhere to professional code of ethics


  • Master’s degree from accredited university or college
  • At least one year of related pediatric experience is preferred
  • Current MD license or eligible to attain one
