The Systems Administrator I works within the Information Technology team to provide operating system support to ensure sustainable, stable and secure enterprise level servers and workstations including deployment, performance-tuning, upgrades/patches, maintenance, troubleshooting, permissions, and file sharing. This position reports to the System Administrator III/IV or Information Technology Manager/Director.
Provide VIP support for Executive level management
Work primarily out of our Walnut Creek location, and on occasion from Orinda or Petaluma when needed
Personal transportation would be a requirement to travel between mentioned work locations
Assist in managing technology operations for a local network or networks
Perform routine tasks to support the firm’s operating systems under the supervision of a more experienced administrator
Act as a front-line interface to users, accepting trouble reports and dispatching them to appropriate system administrators
Assist in training end-users on programs or systems
Provide QA testing for change deployments
Support Microsoft Active Directory and maintain security groups
Perform software and application installations and upgrades
Document implementation guidelines and installation guidance
May provide research and recommendations regarding systems or software purchases for the firm as requested
Assist with projects or other operational tasks for the IT department as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, in particular the ability to explain simple procedures in writing or verbally; good phone skills
Strong ability to learn; ability to follow instructions well; strong analytical skills
Familiarity with an operating system and its commands/utilities at a user level; ability to edit files, use basic utilities and commands, find users’ home directories, navigate through the file system, install software on workstations, and use I/O redirection; some understanding of how user authentication happens in a directory service context
Ability to identify/locate shared resources and perform simple tasks (e.g. manipulate jobs in a print queue, figure out why a network file system isn’t available)
Work well alone or on a team
Familiarity with Microsoft Windows 10. Ability and experience managing user and file permissions, GPOs (Group Policy Objects) on Windows 2016 Servers. Experience with Windows Server Tools, Enterprise management systems (such as Ivanti).

Solid organizational and follow-through skills, performing work accurately with strong attention to detail
Ability to meet deadlines and effectively prioritize a fast-paced and varied workload, effectively manage a variety of concurrent and shifting priorities

Good working knowledge with MiTel (ShoreTel) PBX, or other PBX Phone Systems.
Communicate and work with Internet and Voice providers to order service, as well as maintaining and tracking ISP/ Voice contracts.
Providing Service Desk support to stakeholders at all levels within the firm.
Minimum of two years of college or equivalent post-high school education or experience. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field as well as prior experience in customer support, computer operations, system administration, or another related area are preferred. Prior experience working in a professional services firm is a plus. Relevant Certifications strongly preferred.
