Responsible for inspecting work performed by contractors on distribution, transmission, or joint trench projects. Coordinates work activities with all affected IPC stakeholders. Ensures all inspections are completed and in compliance with Idaho Power contractor specifications. REQUIRED SKILLS Knowledge of: Standard construction methods installation practices for overhead and underground general construction safety practices including OSHA and IPC safety programs/processes contract administration procedures chemical safety. Skills in: Good interpersonal, verbal, and organizational skills PC use, common and scheduling software. Ability to: Keep legible, detailed, and accurate records work independently. Understand, interpret, and enforce contract specifications read and understand construction drawings and diagrams establish effective working relationships with coworkers, contractors and their employees, and the general public. PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Perform work in the field, up to 20 percent of the time in extreme temperatures on uneven and slick terrain traverse across open trenches frequently reaching below ground level, kneeling, and climbing. Rarely using up to 50 lbs. exertional force (above shoulder height) to open three-phase sectors that are out of alignment occasionally carrying weight up to 50 lbs continuously standing, walking, gripping, and bending when performing work in the field. Maneuver and navigate around construction areas to inspect work performed. Perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat of harm to self, others, or property. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: High school diploma or GED Experience: Five years’ work experience performing overhead and underground construction or a combination of appropriate education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Prefer: Two years’ as a journeyman lineman performing overhead/underground switching Licenses & Certifications: Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position. Must obtain First Aid/CPR card within 90 days. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The position requires the ability to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, crawl, climb into and out of vehicles, ascend/ descend ladders, twist, kneel, balance and reach. Job requires the ability to work alone for long periods of time in the field, often in adverse weather conditions / temperatures, on uneven and slick terrain within proximity of energized equipment. Traverse across open trenches; frequently reaching below ground level, kneeling, and climbing. Continuous standing, walking, gripping and bending when performing work in field. Maneuver and navigate around construction areas to inspect work performed. Drive in all weather conditions. Occasionally lift test equipment (up to 50 lbs.) chest and knee high; rarely lifting shoulder height and above items weighing up to 50 lbs. Rarely use exertional force pushing/pulling items weighing up to 50 lbs to open three-phase sectors that are out of alignment. Carry with one or two hands items weighing up to 50 lbs. Frequently use foot controls when operating vehicles, grasp, hold, and manipulate items, tools, or keyboards. Perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat of harm to self, others or property. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to work overtime when needed. Operate 2-wheel, 4-wheel drive, and all-terrain vehicles. Additional safety related training may be required. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Temporary: Temporary employees are only eligible to apply for internal job postings if the posting is in their current department. (Internal) Temporary-Duty Assignment - This position is being filled as a Temporary-Duty Assignment (TDA). The successful applicant can apply for other positions during the TDA period. No moving expenses or temporary living assistance of any kind will be paid during the TDA period. If a Regular position becomes available during the term of the TDA, the supervisor may elect to place the employee in the TDA rather than posting the Regular position. Qualified employees must have been in their current position for at least six months and have supervisory approval to participate in order for their current position to be held for the duration of the assignment. If the successful applicant moves to a lower grade position, he/she may be eligible for a wage freeze for the duration of the TDA. Please contact HR for specific eligibility questions.
