We are looking for Design Engineers in our San Diego, CA office to join our growing team.
Essential Job Functions:
Create complex 3-D CAD models and assemblies using appropriate engineering tools
Ability to perform hand calculations to assess heat transfer and structural integrity (stiffness/stress/strain) at the subsystem and component level
Generate mechanism designs with appropriate degrees of freedom, range of motion, resolution, stability, etc.
Develop non-ambiguous, appropriately refined, and fully documented design requirements
Apply creativity, experience, and analytical abilities to generate innovative design approaches
Write technical documents to describe trade studies engaged, design decisions, and expected system layout and/or performance
Work with little oversight and input to derive unique design solutions to meet customer demands
Create and redline 2-D drawings to document design elements
Work closely and collaboratively with clients and engineering personnel as required
Travel to customer sites for meetings or engineering support
Experience & Qualifications:
BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or a similar academic discipline)
4 - 10 years of work experience
Experience using SolidWorks (2010 or later), CATIA (v5 or v6) and Pro-Engineer (Creo)
Preferred industry experience and continued relationships in one or more of the following areas; Aerospace, Aeronautics, Electro-Mechanical, Optical Systems
Demonstrate ability to compellingly present technical information to groups
Exhibit time management skills to support multiple projects concurrently
Ability to assist in identifying and developing new client relationships
Demonstrate ability to perform detailed design work independently, collaboratively and as an overseer
Perform requirement derivation, conceptualization, detail design, project oversight, manufacturing support and sustaining support.
Must be able to obtain a US government security clearance
