The Medical Science Communications Specialist (MSCS) position is responsible for medical information and scientific liaison initiatives that support the marketed and pipeline products of our clients. The MSCS will help build long-term peer to peer relationships with thought leaders, payers and other stakeholders within the healthcare community to deliver robust clinical conversations, provide and deliver presentations and testimonies, build customer relationships, and lead strategic discussions as it relates to key clinical issues/concepts, and health economic and outcomes research data on portfolio products. The MSCS is responsible for cultivating collaborative relationships with influential members of the medical community by engaging with a variety of healthcare professionals across the spectrum of the healthcare system. These scientific exchanges will support and/or expand current therapeutic concepts, as well as ensure the safe and effective utilization of portfolio product(s).
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (RPh) or Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) is required. One (1) year experience as Clinical Pharmacist in a hospital setting or one (1) year experience in the pharmaceutical experience is required. In addition, one (1) year of pharmaceutical industry experience in relation to medical affairs or pharmacovigilance is preferred. One (1) year of experience as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) working in Medical Communications / Information environment or participation in Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) committees is also preferred.
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid license, in good standing, to practice as a Pharmacist as required by the state Board of Pharmacy in the state employed. Valid Controlled Substance License in the state employed if required by the State Board of Pharmacy to practice.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintain a working knowledge of program guidelines, frequently asked questions (FAQs), standard response letters (SRLs), products and therapeutic areas related to assigned program(s).
Responsible for reviewing, interpreting and reacting to data provided by clients and customers.
Communicate complex scientific information and research concepts to healthcare professionals (HCPs) and other related stakeholders.
Delivers approved scientific presentations to guidelines/P&T committees, formulary/pathway decision makers and related stakeholders.
Fosters scientific relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs).
Provide fair-balanced, accurate information in response to product and medical information requests. This includes discussion of risk information, relevant therapeutic areas, identification of unmet needs, and communication of relevant information back to client.
Adhere with all industry regulations including capture and documentation of adverse event and product quality complaint reports.
Serve as a clinical and educational resource to other client departments and health care practitioners.
Maintain current knowledge of existing treatment trends, treatment standards, and updated indications related to assigned program(s).
Maintain Company, employee and customer confidentiality, as well as compliance with all HIPAA regulations.
Accurately document all customer communications in an appropriate and professional manner within specified timeframes.
