We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Probate Paralegal to join our growing legal team. Key Responsibilities:
- Probate and Estate Administration: Oversee all aspects of probate administration, including but not limited to, preparing and filing probate documents, petitions, and accountings.
- Drafting and Document Preparation: Prepare complex legal documents, pleadings, affidavits, motions, wills, trusts, and other legal correspondence accurately and timely.
- Court Filings and Deadlines Management: Monitor and manage court filing deadlines, ensuring all probate filings meet requirements and are filed promptly.
- Client Interaction: Act as a primary point of contact for clients, maintaining professional and empathetic communication. Answer client questions, update them on case statuses, and provide procedural guidance as needed.
- Case File Management: Maintain organized case files, track case progress, and coordinate with attorneys to ensure all necessary actions are taken for each client.
- Financial Accountings: Prepare and manage estate accountings, including valuing assets, preparing inventories, and drafting final reports for court submission.
- Court Liaison: Schedule and coordinate court appearances, and occasionally attend hearings.
- Research: Conduct in-depth legal research on probate laws, rules, and precedents as required.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or a paralegal certificate from an accredited institution.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of probate experience in a law firm or legal department.
- Knowledge: Thorough understanding of probate law, estate administration, and related court processes.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in legal software (e.g., Clio, MyCase) and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel for estate accounting.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with the capability to handle sensitive client matters with compassion.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to take initiative, anticipate needs, and resolve issues efficiently.
- Team Player: Capable of working well with attorneys, support staff, and clients, contributing positively to a collaborative office environment.
