PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Clients engage RGP for expertise in delivering large and complex projects to strengthen their business. As an experienced State and Local Income Tax Senior Analyst, you will assist in all areas of the company’s state and local tax department. You will use your state and local income tax experience and other relevant public accounting experience to prepare and review tax adjustments for state and local income tax returns, and prepare and review tax package requests to gather the necessary information to complete assigned tax returns.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE

Preparing State and Local Tax Compliance
Preparing book-to-tax adjustments
Preparing and reviewing tax packages information questionnaires submitted to the business controllers
Overall support to tax department
Prepare all aspects of state and local income/franchise tax compliance process
Review federal tax filing positions that will affect state compliance process
Research and interpret new state and local tax law changes to determine impact on company
Assist with state income/franchise tax exams, defend positions taken on open returns, evaluate likelihood of sustaining positions taken, and review recognition and measurement of reserves for uncertain tax positions
Forecast income/franchise tax expense and track results against forecast
Preparation of income/franchise tax reserves and evaluation of reserve needs
Coordinate projects with outside tax advisers
Assist with compliance with various state and local tax credits and incentives
DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Taxation preferred
CPA preferred
3 years of experience in income tax preparation with an emphasis on corporate income tax for either a Fortune 500 company or a national/regional public accounting firm
U.S. Federal Income Tax and/or State and Local Tax background
Ability to creatively research, analyze, and conclude specifically assigned US tax issues with minimal supervision
Ability to work closely with groups within a corporate structure including finance, legal, operations, etc.
A team-player attitude with a willingness to assist other accounting team members with tasks as needed
