Position Title: Fleet Manager
Location: Rensselaer, NY
Job Summary:
The Fleet Manager will oversee and maintain the company’s fleet of vehicles by working with management and exterior vendor relationships.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assure strict adherence to all Federal, State, Company and Client Safety Policies and Procedures for the company, drivers, and vehicles.
- Develops schedules and procedures for and ensures adherence to routine maintenance and non-routine repair of all vehicles in the company’s fleet, including replacement at end of life
- Responsible for FMCSA Reporting, violation history, and plan for improvement
- Creating and filling federal regulatory tax forms such as 2290-HUT and IFTA in a timely manner
- Collaborates with supervisors and staff to manage and reduce expenses such as those for fuel and labor costs.
- Drafts and presents reports on department operations and expenses.
- Manage and Maintain:
- All regulatory records relating to HOS, VM compliance, safety, and equipment
- Vendor relations and fleet billing
- Performs other related duties as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Good understanding and working knowledge of the DOT/FMSCA regulations and requirements
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of fleet management and operations.
- Diesel mechanic experience required
- Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prepare and adhere to a budget and to monitor and reduce expenses.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Education and Experience:
- Diesel Mechanic: 2 years experience required
- Logistics: 2 years experience preferred
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Driver's license (Required)
- DOT medical certificate (Required)
- Experience using electronic truck & driver data
- Experience in State registration and inspection processes for tractors and trailer
- Understanding of FMSCA/DOT regulations and requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to access and navigate fleet parking lot and maintenance facilities.
