The Opportunity:
Verona Pharma is currently recruiting a Senior Accountant to join our team, reporting to our Controller. In the role of Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions as well as aiding in the preparation of the Company’s financial statements.
Remote working and flexibility are important parts of our culture at Verona. However, we are looking for candidates based in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area as you will periodically be required to go into the Raleigh office for key meetings, training, and other activities as needed.
To be successful in this role, you must be action-oriented with excellent organizational, problem-solving and project management skills.

Responsibilities:

Assist in the preparation and maintenance of accurate and timely financial records, including journal entries, general ledger reconciliations and financial statements.

Support the preparation of SEC filings including 10-Qs / 10-Ks.

Active participation and contribution in all required audits and tax filings.

Assist with the cash and accounts payable function, including preparation of bank reconciliations.

Conduct variance analysis and assist in preparation of financial reports, highlighting key findings and trends.

Participate in the implementation and improvement of internal controls and procedures to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.

A minimum of 2+ years of related experience required.

Public accounting experience required, and CPA certification preferred.

Life Science/Biopharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
