Position Summary

The Fleet Supervisor - CDL is responsible for the activities and compliance of drivers and technicians, and also coordinates the use, maintenance, and repairs of company vehicles and equipment for an environmental services company. Key duties include managing work activities and evaluating performance of technicians, training personnel, fielding calls from technicians, and ensuring that all vehicles and equipment are in safe, working order. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter and team player who takes initiative to solve problems and improve processes. Experience with fleet management and supervision is required, and previous vacuum truck experience is highly desired.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise technicians and direct work activities while coordinating with Operations Manager and dispatchers
  • Perform route observations of driver performance and compliance (overnight travel required)
  • Ensure that drivers perform high-quality work safely and efficiently, and that they are professional representatives of the company
  • Provide constructive feedback to drivers and technicians based on observations and evaluations
  • Educate technicians about safety policies and direct monthly safety meetings
  • Must thoroughly understand DOT compliance and ensure that drivers understand and follow DOT compliance guidelines
  • Responsible for functionality and maintenance of all service equipment and vehicles
  • Supervise and coordinate use and maintenance of company owned and leased equipment, vehicles, and other property
  • Schedule preventative maintenance or repairs for all service vehicles and equipment, perform regular inspections, and support drivers and helpers with vehicle or equipment issues
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies and ensure that stock levels always meet service needs
  • Complete reports related to maintenance, mileage, and fuel consumption, or as requested per management
  • Ensure that technicians complete all necessary paperwork and review for completion and accuracy
  • Must be able to perform the work of drivers and technicians and also understand the unique requirements of specific customers
  • Coordinate with Operations Manager in management of drivers and customer jobs, and also assist with driver and technician hiring process
  • Ensure that necessary site maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely manner
  • Travel as required
  • Complete other tasks and special projects as assigned per management

Qualifications

  • Must possess minimum valid Class B CDL, and willing/able to obtain Class A
  • Clean driving record, no DUI
  • Tanker endorsement or ability to obtain one
  • Ability to think on your feet and solve problems effectively
  • Fleet management/dispatch experience required
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check
  • Must possess basic math and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and high standard of workmanship
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical labor in extreme weather and/or temperatures
  • Vacuum truck experience preferred

Salary: $50,000.00 to $60,000.00 /year
