Description:
Full-time childcare Lead Teacher with Director Qualifications. Will be acting director when executive director is unavailable. Applicant will be assigned to teach in a classroom. Childcare program is located in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood of Chicago. Base pay is negotiable depending on education, experience, and availability.
Qualifications:
- MUST HAVE Two Years of College Credit
- At least 21 years of age
- 21 semester or 31 quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development from birth to age 6
- Completion of a credentialing program approved by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services required
- Two years of child development experience
- Current Mandated Reporter Training, SIDS, SUID, SBS and other applicable certificates
- Must have the Gateways Illinois Director Credential Level 2 or higher
Responsibilities:
- Report directly to the executive director
- Assume child care decision making during working hours
- Act in the classroom staff capacity during the first and last hour of the program shift, and during temporary staff absences
- Assists the executive director and acts in his behalf upon his absence
- Interact positively with the children and model good behavior. Use appropriate guidance and discipline techniques as outlined in discipline policy.
- Record daily activities of the children and document any major issues to the executive director and parents. Communicate with the families any incidents that have occurred and recorded on site.
- Plans and implements research based curriculum using various activities to stimulate the children’s social, emotional, intellectual and physical development.
- Provide continuous supervision to the children to ensure their health and safety.
- Complete and submit reports and records in a timely manner. Supervise and direct the teaching staff to perform other duties as assigned.
- Schedule parent conferences to discuss children’s development and concerns. Work with family to develop goals and strategies as necessary.
- Promote and maintain positive professional working relationships with other staff in the center.
- Watches for signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring them to the attention of the parents
- Uses positive discipline and guidance techniques
- Keeps records of the students’ progress, routines, and interests, and inform parents about their child’s development
- Assumes other duties as directed by the executive director
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.25 per hour
