Facilitates data collection, through concurrent and retrospective review, in order to comply with comparative database requirements and maintain certification/credentialing for the various database registries such as: American College of Cardiology (ACC), Society of Thoracic Surgery (STS), NSQIP, Stroke, ICU. Reviews, extrapolates and enters data from patient charts into the database. Validates, evaluates and shares the data related to quality of care, treatment and outcome of the various patient populations.
Must have an ASN, BSN or a Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare related field.
Valid Indiana Registered Nurse license if nursing degree is required by the registry.
Minimum one year experience in applicable hospital department preferred. Clinical chart review and abstraction experience required. Basic statistical knowledge preferred. Quality improvement or patient safety knowledge and experience preferred. Computer and Internet experience required - familiarity and comfort with MS Office products is essential (Word and Excel- required; PowerPoint and Access- preferred).
Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Must have skills/knowledge related to the position's clinical setting. Ability to complete all pre-training, on-site training, and/or post-training modules and pass applicable test. Additional qualifications/requirements may be defined by the clinical registry. Recent training/knowledge/experience in the hospital department for the registry’s area of focus is preferred. Basic statistical knowledge preferred.
