We are currently seeking an Assistant Lab Manager to join our team!
Biostate.AI, LLC, aims to build a foundational model of biology that can predict the evolution of health and disease. For each subject, Biostate 's neural network will use past multiomic state information to predict future multiomic states, which in turn can be used to classify future disease states. Biostate's ultimate goal is to improve human healthspan, and proximally can facilitate biopharma drug development through accurate prediction of toxicology in preclinical research.
Primary Purpose of Position:
We are in the process of establishing a new animal farm laboratory, aiming to advance our research capabilities. We seek a dynamic and experienced Assistant Lab Manager to assist with the oversight of the development and operational phases of this cutting-edge facility. The successful candidate will play a crucial support role in the setup, and subsequent daily operations of the lab, ensuring optimal performance, compliance with regulatory standards, and fostering an environment of innovation and excellence.
Essential Duties:
● Equipment and Inventory Management:
○ Establish procedures for the acquisition and management of laboratory equipment
and supplies.
○ Oversee maintenance, repair, and calibration of lab instruments and equipment to
ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
● Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
○ Ensure the laboratory complies with all local, state, and federal regulations concerning
animal research and welfare.
○ Implement and monitor safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for all
staff and humane treatment of animal subjects.
● Personnel Management and Training:
○ Train, and supervise technical support staff, including technicians and other lab
personnel.
○ Implement training programs for lab staff on operational procedures, safety protocols,
and research methodologies.
● Operational Management:
○ Plan and organize the administrative operations of the laboratory, including budget
management , procurement of supplies, and oversight of inventory.
○ Facilitate problem-solving and provide technical guidance to lab members on
research projects and assays.
● Research Support and Collaboration:
○ Utilize scientific knowledge and laboratory experience to support research projects
and collaboration within and outside of the organization.
○ Engage in independent research work as appropriate, contributing to the lab's
research goals and objectives.
● Maintenance of Animal Colonies:
○ Oversee the establishment and maintenance of animal colonies, ensuring ethical
treatment, proper care, and compliance with regulatory standards.
● Miscellaneous Duties:
○ Perform other job-related duties as required, adapting to the evolving needs of the
lab and research projects.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or a related discipline
required, Masters degree preferred.
● 3-5 years of relevant experience working with rats and mice in a controlled environment.
● Expertise in working with genetically engineered lab animals, demonstrating skillful handling and experimental expertise.
● Demonstrable management experience and the ability to collaborate.
