Instrumentation Associate – Durham, NC

This role temp-to-hire or direct hire opportunity and will require full-time availability. The ideal candidate will have roughly 2 years of experience in a pharmaceutical/Biotechnology role performing instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. The Instrumentation Associate will perform maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of instrumentation support of Upstream Process Development. Non-local candidates are welcome to apply, but MUST be comfortable relocating to the RTP at their own expense. PRIOR INSTRUMENTATION MAINTENANCE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. SEE SPECIFIC INSTRUMENTS BELOW.

Job Responsibilities:
Provide basic maintenance, upkeep, and calibration of instruments and equipment used in upstream process development.
Perform regular quality control checks on instruments used in upstream process development.
Coordinate with PD and stockroom staff to project equipment consumables use and facilitate materials purchasing.
Respond to trouble calls and perform diagnostics and repairs.
Contact vendors and facilitate on-site repairs and scheduled maintenance.
Organize and maintain an archive of data from instruments used in USPD.
Document all activities according to the appropriate laboratory procedure and/or KBI Standard Operating Procedure

Job Requirements:
High school degree or equivalent; Completion of a B.S. degree in Science or Engineering is ideal.
Minimum two years’ experience maintaining laboratory equipment
o Specific equipment of interest: ViCell, BioHT, ABL80 (blood gas analyzer), scales, peristaltic pumps, sterile tubing welders, bioreactors (Xcellerex and Applikon), pH meter, pipettes, syringe pumps

Able to prioritize and manage time efficiently
Good interpersonal skills and communication
Must be comfortable working with hazardous materials and must comply to all health and safety regulations
Able to stand on feet, bend, and move through shift; able to lift equipment and samples
