Assistant Corporate Controller

Assistant Corporate Controller is a member of the Corporate finance team reporting to the Corporate Controller who will be responsible for managing the global consolidation of the Lydall business segments as well as maintaining the Corporate general ledger. In addition, this position will monitor and enhance as appropriate the Company’s internal control processes and policies - specifically those around the Oracle ERP system. This role will also support the external reporting and technical accounting group as well as help lead certain initiatives to improve the Controllership and financial reporting processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Preparation and review of footnotes and other required disclosures for SEC filing.
Conducts research and derives and presents conclusions on technical accounting and reporting matters. This includes revenue recognition, leases, segment reporting, inventory valuation and impairment analysis.
Detailed review of operations’ financial reporting (trial balances, account reconciliations and hard close on-site review) and related accounting guidance.
Performs and reviews reconciliations and account analysis for complex accounts, as required.
Responsible for weighted average shares and earnings per share calculations
Responsible for stock based compensation reporting including expense recorded by all operations, establishing assumptions for fair market value and forfeitures, SEC disclosure and budgeting.
Manages employee benefit plans accounting, financial statement preparation and audit process.
Manages business insurance including workers compensation, general liability, auto liability, property and various other policies.
Works with external auditors for Corporate Headquarters on certain financial reporting and certain financial reporting questions for the operations.
Participates in the maintenance of the internal control structure over financial reporting and participates in entity wide monitoring controls, particularly through review of certain operational results and review of controls (process walkthroughs, etc)
Assists in updating/establishing company-wide accounting policies
Supervises, evaluates, and trains staff (senior accountant) formulating development plans where needed, as applicable.
Will actively engage in Lean Management by encouraging, teaching, participating in, and supporting the Lean Six Sigma culture and tools.
Participate in the acquisition integration team
Backup support for treasury functions including wires, check processing and other electronic payments.

Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required for Consideration as a Candidate:

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of 8 - 10 years of accounting/auditing experience.
  • Significant experience with Oracle or other ERP systems
  • Experience auditing and/or working with public manufacturing/technology companies
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work through multiple work-streams in a time sensitive environment
  • Strong organizational, writing and communications skills required
  • Work extend hours as needed and ability to travel periodically
Additional Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • CPA
  • Big 4 public accounting experience
  • Knowledge and experience with Sarbanes-Oxley Act - Section 404
