The position of Plant Manager (PM) is a challenging position in a fast paced, pallet recycling facility designed to sort, repair, store, receive and ship pallets from various supply points. The position requires excellent communication skills, computer skills, strong leadership ability, and the ability to motivate and direct a diverse workforce. The PM will be responsible for up to 140 hourly and clerical employees that are engaged in the sortation, repair, disposing, shipping and receiving pallets and pellet mill production. The PM position reports directly to the Regional General Manager.
The PM is responsible for achieving objectives, budgets, Standard Work Practices, production standards, scheduling of personnel, quality, shipping and receiving, daily inventory management, safety, and sanitation/housekeeping requirements. The position requires the PM to occasionally fill in for limited periods of time to leadership roles within the plant. The PM must be available to work shifts with starting times around the clock including weekends and holidays. The PM is responsible for employee discipline.

Job Description
The work of the Plant Manager is directed by our customer in the form of published Standard Operating Procedures, Standard Work Methods, and Process Control Plan. It is essential that the processes outlined by our customer are followed. It is essential that the Kamps Plant Manager puts Safety First in the way the Plant is managed. Kamps Plant Managers are required to meet agreed upon production allocations, quality metrics, performance metrics, financial metrics, inventory control, waste reduction and control, recycling programs, yard management, HR issues, control maintenance and PM programs, among others. Therefore, there could be changes to the essential job functions and the performance metrics which would be directed by the management of Kamps.
The Plant Manager must conduct quality inspections throughout the course of their day. The PM shall not limit their audits to one shift. The PM shall be required on occasion to vary their days and times of work, including weekends, to ensure that all shifts are adequately evaluated. A considerable amount of strength and endurance is required of the individual to safely and successfully perform in this position. Specifically, the amount of endurance required to perform in this position is equivalent to walking at a moderate pace for the entire shift.
In addition to handling pallets, the Plant Manager must be capable of learning to safely operate a forklift which carries the pallets throughout the plant, operate sortation equipment, and how to safely operate the tools of the repairmen. The PM must understand the layout of the facility and the inventory/storage requirement required.
