Job Summary: Plans, organizes, and monitors materials and finished goods for the company. Coordinates with internal departments to ensure that customer needs are met, and that the company never runs out of required material. Helps meet company's inventory goals through inventory control, cycle counting and other means.
Establish steady flow of material for manufacturing based on Production schedule and Sales forecast.
Coordinate with Sales to plan for spikes in demand, special orders, or potential opportunities.
Coordinate with Purchasing by monitoring material usage and purchasing trends to optimize material purchasing.
Ensure inventory accuracy by performing regular cycle counts.
Monitor and reconcile inventory discrepancies in the ERP system.
Ensure that Production does not shut down due to material stock outs.
Coordinate with R&D and Project Mangers on material requirements for new product development.
Create part numbers and bills of material in ERP system.
Establish and maintain settings for MRP or Kanban fulfillment.
Monitor and adjust costed bills of material for sub-assemblies and finished goods in the ERP system.
Maintain weekly and monthly inventory reports.
Additional tasks that may be assigned.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years' experience in a production planning/materials control function or equivalent combination of education and experience
Hands-on experience in developing master production schedules and materials requirements plans will be helpful.
Demonstrated planning experience in support of high customer service levels in a complex supply chain environment.
APICS CPIM certification preferred.
